One the Juggler changed my life! A fan since 1984
I first heard them in Hastings . At last a guitar band, not a keyboard/drum
machine band, that was all the rage. They came on, they looked
so cool, they played, they sounded so real, I was hooked and they
were only into their second song. The place was packed. Last song,
and they left the small rounded stage. More, more, more, we shouted.
They came back, and then they were gone.
I saw the drummer at the bar and asked him, "What
stuff is your front man into?" And he said, "Lennon", and I thought,
great I love Lennon. I asked him, "What is the singer's name?" And
he said, "Rokko". I saw Rokko 20 minutes later at the bar on his
own, I said, "Great gig", and he replied, "Thanks." I went home
buzzing.
I was 16. Three months later I started my first
group, yes, One the Juggler did change my life.
I saw them again in Hastings , and this time I
was in the pub with them across the road from the club. Me and
my friend chatted to Lushi and Lin, we couldn't get close to Rokko,
because he had three women with him.
A year later, I went to see them in Brighton ,
but the bloke in charge of the pub said Juggler had a sound check
but Rokko didn't like the acoustics of the place and they packed
up their stuff and left.. I wasn't pissed off or anything, infact
I understood why Rokko hated this place, it was a dive.
Next thing I heard, about 4 months later, was that
Juggler had split, and Rokko and Mick Ronson were gigging round
London as a 2 piece with a drum machine...
